Diezani Alison-Madueke Nominated to become Secretary-General of OPEC

President Jonathan has nominated Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, Minister of Petroleum to become Secretary-General of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

This effect will be made when the tenureĀ of incumbent Abdullah al-Badri of Iraq expires in December 2014.

Abdullah al-Badri who was also Libyan Minister for Oil and Electricity between 1990 and 2000 has been Secretary-General of OPEC since 2007, he is age: 74-year-old. However, if Alison-Madueke becomes the Secretary-General of OPEC, She will be recorded as the First Female Secretary-General ever in existence.
